We can’t believe it’s Easter time already! With everything going on in the world at the moment, we wouldn’t blame you if it slipped your mind. If you haven’t gotten around to doing any Easter shopping and the grocery store shelves are bare, don’t panic! We’ve put together this list of four super simple Easter treats you can make with ingredients you might already have in your pantry. Keep reading for some mouth-watering baking inspiration!

1. Chocolate Mug Cake
Looking for a quick chocolate hit you don’t have to share? Look no further than the simple but decadent mug cake! To treat yourself with this delicious Easter dessert, you’ll only need your basic baking staples like flour, sugar, oil and cocoa powder, as well as a mug and microwave to cook your cake. We recommend following this super simple recipe. Swap the chocolate chips or hazelnut spread for a small chocolate egg for some extra Easter cheer. And the best part about this chocolatey delight? It only takes a few minutes to prepare and cooks in just one minute, so you won’t have to wait around for long before you get to dig in and enjoy it!

2. Pavlova
This Australian classic is a staple at many Easter gatherings, and can be made with ingredients you’ll almost certainly have at home already. While making meringue takes some time and patience, we guarantee it will be worth it for an Easter treat that the whole family will love. This basic recipe is a great starting point for a beginner pavlova chef. If you don’t have the lemon juice this recipe calls for, don’t worry! Switch it out for the same amount of vinegar. Be sure to avoid balsamic or malt vinegar, though! These both have a very strong flavor that will overpower the delicious taste of your meringue. Top your pav with whatever fruit you fancy – fresh, frozen or tinned fruit all works perfectly, so use any variety you have on hand. Grate some chocolate over the top of your pavlova for a luxurious touch.

3. Carrot Cake
We know this carrot cake would get the Easter Bunny’s tick of approval! This particular recipe is incredibly simple and uses minimal ingredients, so we know you’ll love making it almost as much as you do eating it! If you aren’t a cinnamon fan or don’t have any in your spice cupboard, the cake still tastes great without it. Icing is entirely optional, but if you have any available, you can’t go wrong with the classic combination of carrot cake and cream cheese.

4. Chocolate Pancakes
We are huge pancake fans and were admittedly a little skeptical when we heard about this one. As it turns out, the classic pancake recipe really can be improved with just a dash of cocoa powder! This recipe published by KidSpot is easy to follow and understand, so you and your family will have no trouble making these classic breakfast treats with a twist. Though it may be tempting, we don’t recommend simply adding chocolate or cocoa powder to a shop-bought pancake mix. The extra powder will change the texture of the batter, and you’ll end up with pancakes that are dry and not very pleasant to eat. Serve with your favorite toppings (and some extra chocolate for good measure) for a perfect Easter Sunday breakfast!
